Tipperary Artist, Catherine Daly is delighted to present her new collection “The Curious Eye”. This new work marks a departure from her watercolours which enjoyed great success through her 2014 Irish tour of “The Delighted Eye”. Her new collection takes inspiration from the stunning photographs of Earth from the International Space Station by Canadian astronaut Chris Hadfield. This new work is very textural, achieved through the use of wax and acrylic, influenced by Rembrandt’s use of impasto, the almost sculptural paintings of Frank Auerbach and the wonderful abstract quality and use of colour in the paintings of Tony O’ Malley. Colour as always, continues to be of huge importance in all her work. Together, these elements compliment the images being both real and abstract bringing about a wonderful collaboration between the photographer, the artist and the viewer.

Her work has been collected across the world featuring in many prominent collections. Most recently she has had the great honour of featuring in the RHA annual Banquet Exhibition, won the 2014 North Tipperary County Council solo exhibition prize at Nenagh’s Civic Offices and featured in a collaborative exhibition in Spain at the Aviles Asturius Gallery.

The exhibition opens on the 3rd of November at 6.30pm and will run until the 24th of November at the Source Arts Centre, Thurles. Further information is available online at www.catherinedalyartist.com.
